Letters To Juliet

What a nice, sweet movie. Sophie is a writer but she is stuck being a fact finder. Sophie and her finance Victor go on a pre-honeymoon trip. But while in Rome, Victor is so preoccupied with planning for his restaurant that he doesn't want to sight see at all. Sophie decides to go sight seeing, when she comes across the Juliet wall. Where woman from all over the world, come and put a letter in the wall, hoping for a reply to there romantic problems. A lady comes up and takes down all the letters. Sophie falls her and finds the Secretariat of Juliet. They put her right to work writing letters to woman. The next day Sophie finds one that has been behind a rock for 50 years. She replies back. A week later Sophie is introduced to Claire, the older woman that she wrote the letter too. She has come with her grandson to try and locate Lorenzo, her lost love. so they begin their search. But to there dismay there is 74 Lorenzo's. Each day they go out  on their search. Claire has given up hope, when she sees a young man that looks like Lorenzo did 50 years ago. but she is so dismayed that she gives up. But Charlie and Sophie ask and find out that he is Lorenzo, and his father and grandfather. and his grandfather comes riding in. And Claire sees that it is him. Lorenzo has lost his wife, and Claire has lost her wife. They decide to get married. but Sophie must go back to Victor. They return to New York, but everything is not as it should be, so Sophie breaks off the engagement and goes after Charlie.
This is a great Chick Flick. I recommend.

Just Go With It

This movie is funny. Right before Danny is about to get married he over hears his bride-to-be telling her friends about how she cheated on him last night. Danny does not go through with the marriage. He uses his ring to pick up woman at the bar. When he finds the woman of his dreams, she wants to meet his soon to be ex wife and have her tell her that it is over. The problem is that Danny doesn't have an ex-wife. So he asks his assistant, Katherine, to be his ex-wife. When Palmer meets Katherine, she finds out that Katherine has two kids, and she wants to meet them. The kids tell Danny that they want to go to Hawaii. So everyone is on there way to Hawaii, when they are in Hawaii, the lies just get even more intense. Finally Palmer and Danny are about to get married, but then Danny realizes that he has fallen in love with Katherine, even though there are so many lies, she is the one he is most honest with.    

Second Chance

This is a good movie. Ethan is the associate pastor at the Rock, church. Jake is the pastor at Second Chance Church, the church that Ethan's dad started. Jake is mad at the mega church and how it is all about the money. Ethan is sent to Second Chances to try and get his act together. Ethan is taken aback by Jake's ways. While Ethan is there he learned a lot. When the township is set on taking down the church Ethan and Jake do everything to try and keep the church standing. Ethan grows and learns to trust in God and not to care about the money.
 

A Simple Twist of Fate

What a Cute movie. When Michael is married his wife cheats on him and becomes pregnant. Michael is devastated. He moves away and becomes a hermit and is totally disconnected to his community. Then one day a toddler (Mathilda) walks into his house. He goes out side and finds her mother dead. He adopts the little girl and becomes more connected, until Mathilda's real father tries and fights for custody, which it turns out that her father ran for house, and lived right down the road for years. In the end Michael wins when all of his stolen coins are found at the bottom of a lake.
This is a cute movie. I hope you enjoy.
 

An Old-Fashioned Thanksgiving

What a great movie. I look forward to reading the book. I did not know that Louisa May Alcott (Little Women) wrote this as well. Though While watching it you could see the vast similarities.
 Mary when she was young ran off with the hired help and started a life with her husband. She had two daughters and one son. Though her husband has died, and the family is struggling a little bit. Mathilda (one of the daughters) is a writer. She Writes a letter to her rich grandmother and asks for some help. Her Grandmother arrives, and helps the family have an amazing Thanks giving dinner. Mary is upset at first, but soon settles her differences with her mother.
I enjoyed this movie throughly and I hope that you will as well. If you like Little Women, you will enjoy this as well.

Dear John

This movie was ok, but it was nothing like the book. Nicholas Spark's novel was amazing, but I was highly disappointed with this movie. I was also disappointed with the casting. They changed a lot of parts in the movie, some that would have made a lot more sense if it followed the book.
Though this movie is good. I would recommend reading the book, it's better. What a sad love story. to be in love, writing letters back and forth, about to come home, but then september 11th happens and John is forced to up his enlistment. Savannah was so sad, but she slowly began to have feelings for Tim. Savannah marries Tim, just after John is on his way home. How life shattering.

Our Family Wedding

I enjoyed this movie. How true, our marriage, their wedding. The wedding is all about the parents, and not so much about the couple. I found that one out when I got married.
It all goes south when before the parents meet, when Miguel tows Brad's car. When they meet they are both upset, and to find out that Lucia is not marrying a Mexican but a Black person. The parents are each trying to plan the wedding and decide what should and shouldn't be included in the wedding. It's a very stressful time. and Lucia and Marcus go through some trials. This is a very funny movie, and very true. I would recommend this movie.

Before you say I do

This is a pretty good movie. It has an interesting twist that makes it a little different.  George proposes to Jane, but Jane can only think of her first wedding. George wishes that he would have met Jane before she got married. Right as George wishes this he runs a yellow light and gets hit by a car.  when he wakes up it's 10 years before and Jane is a couple days away from marrying Doug. George makes Jane fall in love with her just in time. This is a good movie. i would recommend it.

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

This book is amazing. I can see why it's such the rage. It keeps you on the edge of your seat.
Katniss Everdeen. She is just an average girl in District 12....
So they live in this country called Panem, which was formerly the USA. There use to be 13 districts but District 13 revolted and now the Capital has come up with a punishment to make sure it never happens again. Each year each District must send one boy and one girl to be sent to the games, where the 24 tributes fight to the death until there is only one victor left.
This year, like any other year the name is drawn and it is  Prim Everdeen, Katniss's sister. The odds seemed to be totally in her favor. It was the first year for Prim. She only had one name in, where as Katniss had many many names in the draw. Katniss stepped in and took Prim's place. There was no way that Katniss could let Prim go, she would never have a chance.
Katniss and Peeta are picked. So Katniss and Peeta are sent to the Capitol where they begin their training and then are sent to the arena where they will fight to the death.  While in the Capitol Peeta declares his love for Katniss in front of the whole nation. The battle is long and hard. Katniss watches her alley, Rue die. Then the gamemakers declare that there can be 2 winners from each district.  So Katniss and Peeta team up. Peeta is in bad shape. Katniss and Peeta's love appear to be strengthening, but its only a show, to keep them alive, but for Peeta it is very real.

Peeta looses alot of blood. so Katniss tries to keep him alive.
In the end Katniss and Peeta win, but the gamemakers change their minds, only one winner. So Katniss and Peeta decide to commit suicde by eating the poison berries. just before they do, the gamemakers declare them both winners. Katniss and Peeta go to the capitol. Peeta ends up losing his leg. Katniss and Peeta begin their journey home. When Katniss tells Peeta the truth about how she feels for him.


This is a great book. Read it. :)  

Ice Castle 1978

This movie is pretty good. I personally like the newer version better. Same story. Lexi is a famous figure skater. But she has an accident and is blinded. Her boyfriend helps her 'see' by remembering where the ice is and she gets to skate again. It is a great movie. Watch it.

Flicka 2

This is a great movie. Kind of the typical girl, horse movie. but who doesn't like those. Ok so maybe you don't, but they are always fun. Carrie's grandmother is losing her mind so she is forced to go live with her dad, Hank, who owns a farm. Carrie is not used to this and has to become a country girl. The only horse she wants to ride is Flicka. Toby (the boy she is slowly falling for, oh course there's a boy, what kind of movie would it be without one) teachs her how to ride. Flicka keeps escaping and in the end Hank is forced to give Flicka over to his neighbour to pay a debt. Carrie is very upset. Flicka is too. He runs away. In the end Carrie gets Flicka back.

A good family movie.

Footlose (1984)

This was a pretty good movie. The new boy in town, Ren, likes to Dance, but dancing is forbidden, because some kids in the past where killed on their way back from a dance. Ren starts dancing and is planning a dance for the town. He puts the whole town in an uproar until they agree and allow dancing back. It is a great movie. I look forward to watching the new Footloose if it's anything like the old one.

Hidden by: Shelley Shepard Gray

Anna is being beaten by her boy friend, but nobody believes her. So Anna runs away. The only places that she knows she will be safe is to her friend Katie's house in Amish country. Anna shows up on the doorstep with a black eye. The family welcomes her in, even though they are worried that they might get in trouble. Back home Anna's boyfriend Rob is still looking for her, everywhere and anywhere. And if anyone is standing in his way, he's going to take them down. Anna sends word to her parents where she is. They wait awhile and then they come to try and get her. In the mean time Anna has fallen in love with Henry, Katie's older brother. When Anna's parents arrive, there pulls up Rob to claim his possession. but no one is willing to let Anna go with him, until he pulls out a gun and demands that she comes with him. Anna goes with Rob, but he doesn't get to far with Anna before the rest come after him and knock him unconscious. Rob does not end up with Anna. Anna returns home with her parents, but she misses Henry terribly. She sends him a letter. Anna ends up moving back to Amish country and decides that she will become Amish.

This was a great book. I would recommend it. I am now reading the sequel.

Annie's Point

This is a great movie. Annie is dying and just wants to go back to California to see the place where her husband was going to build their house. Annie kidnaps her grand daughter, Ella, who is struggling with what to do in life and really wants to be a singer. Richard (Annie's son) is very upset with this and is trying to locate them. Annie and Ella get into a lot of trouble along the way. Including going to jail and then breaking out of jail. It is a fun, clean movie. I would recommend it. 

The Magic of Ordinary Days

This was a great movie. Set in a time when pregnancy out of wedlock is frowned upon and the Japanese are in war camps. Livvy finds out she is pregnant and her father sends her away to a place where a man (Ray) has agreed to marry her. Ray is a simple farmer and lives by himself. The Japanese at the camp work his farm. Livvy stays mostly at the house, but when ever she can she sends mail to her boyfriend who is the father of the child, even though she is married to Ray. While living on the farm Livvy befriends two of the Japanese girls who actually were born in the States, but because of their heritage are forced to be in the camp. Livvy feels some connection to them because she kind of feels like them. Forced to be married and far away from everything she knows. She helps them when she can.
Livvy's sister comes to visit and tells Livvy she wants to taker her home. But Livvy has slowly become used to her new life and decides to stay. She falls in love with Ray and they have the child.
It is a very classic movie with resistance and then love. but I enjoyed it. there are some different aspects that make it interesting. I would recommend it.
