Apollo by: Ronie Kendig

If you are a fan of Romantic Suspense, you will not want to miss Apollo.

Owen/Apollo has come back home after hanging up his military career. Coming from a line of special ops and military, it seems like a failure. Though he got into the program after two failed attempts, maybe he wasn’t made for that career. Then Owen is presented with the opportunity to use his skills to help rescue a kidnapped princess.

Owen finds himself acting as bodyguard for Leighton. They find themselves traveling with the group to Kenya in the Savannahs. Going on a safari and seeing all the wild animals in their element. Owen is tasked with getting Leighton set free, but it’s a dangerous situation with more at stake. In this high-intensity story, we have forced proximity, lion attacks, elephants to the rescue, intense chemistry, faith-filled, and more.

The setting for this book gave it such a rich element. I also loved reading the author's note and learning that this is based loosely on a true story of the vanishing princesses.

She’s trying to save the boy’s life. What if he’s supposed to save hers?

But Ashley faces a special challenge when Matthew Borden, a sixteen-year-old with Down syndrome, is orphaned. Finding a suitable foster home for the boy becomes the least of her problems when someone starts threatening her and Matthew.

The sudden appearance of a mysterious FBI agent confirms Ashley’s growing suspicions that Matthew is no ordinary teen. The boy she thought no one wanted is wanted by many…dead or alive.

Dodging danger at every turn, Ashley races to find the secrets that could save Matthew’s life. When the truth unearths her own dark past and threatens more than their lives, the God Matthew trusts may be her only hope for rescue.

Review

Are you looking for a Christian suspense thriller novel that will keep you on your toes? Then Special Target by Jerusha Agen is the book for you.

Ashley is a social worker and finds herself in care of Matthew, who is a 16-year-old boy with Down Syndrome. Both of Matthew’s parents have just died in an accident. Ashley cannot find a foster care placement for Matthew with his special needs and finds herself taking care of Matthew.  Ashley has some struggling viewpoints about Down Syndrome. And struggle with this throughout the whole story.

As she is taking care of Matthew, things do not seem right. When her apartment is broken into, and certain strangers start popping up in weird places, Ashley realizes there must be more to Matthew. When the FBI shows up and takes Matthew and Ashley into protective custody, things start falling into place, or so it seems. This story kept me on my toes the whole time.

Jerusha Agen did a great job of intertwining faith throughout the book. It was a great reminder that God can use anyone to share the faith.

If you follow my reviews at all, you know that I do not typically include content warnings, but this did frustrate me, and I almost DNF, but I am glad I pushed through. Ashley’s disdain for Down Syndrome was quite repulsive. I will admit, I wanted to hop through the pages and slap her at times. Ashley held the view that the “humane thing” would have been to abort Matthew because of his Down Syndrome. Her thoughts and viewpoint around this issue were repeated so often that it outright broke my heart. I figured there had to be a ‘root’ to this viewpoint, and I am glad that we get to that and see a change in heart, but it was grating at times.

About the Author

Carol’s passion is to write exciting stories that encourage, inspire, and boost the reader’s faith, possibly because she has always felt like an outsider. She was born in North Africa to American parents and grew up in France. At age 15, her family’s abrupt move to Philadelphia resulted in a rough transition to American life.

After graduating from Penn State, Carol joined the Army in search of adventure. She was stationed in exotic—for her—locations like California, Arizona, and Texas.

Since then, Carol has lived in Krakow, Poland, where she teaches English and organizes language camps. She also writes a blog on faith-related topics.

Carol enjoys watching or reading a good murder mystery and getting nervous while watching NFL games.

More from Carol

The idea for a middle-grade novel came to me while I was listening to a series of sermons on meditating on God’s Word. How could I show that the Bible is exciting, far from boring, relevant to our lives, and has the answers we seek about our purpose in life? And do so in a way that is fun and intriguing, keeping the readers on the edge of their seats? Write a time-travel adventure into the Bible, of course! Granted, the premise may not be new, but I aimed to write it in a way that is fresh and stimulating, giving valuable insights into the Bible.

The result of this crazy idea is the How to Be a Hero series, of which How to Make a Miracle is the second installment, although each book can be read as a standalone novel.

I targeted middle-grade readers because it’s an awkward age when young people begin to question what their parents have taught them and seek answers for themselves (speaking from experience, here). If my books can encourage them in their faith, I will consider my writing a success.

I chose the book themes based on issues young people struggle with. How to Make a Miracle addresses the problem of anger, bitterness, and unforgiveness, which I don’t need to tell you are far too prevalent in our society. The solution is forgiveness—and we all need to learn how to forgive each other, regardless of age.

Review

How to Make a Miracle is the second book in the How to Be a Hero series by Carol Schlorff. This is a great middle-grade Christian fiction.

We find the siblings, Stefan and Julia, on a trip with their friend and their mother. Their parents have recently gone through a divorce, so things have started a little rocky. The group has traveled to Poland to see a little bit more of their family history. In the middle of a museum, the three kids find themselves traveling back in time. One minute, they were looking at tapestries. Next, they were back in bible times. Unsure of what time period they are in, they ask about David, as when they came last time, it was during David and Goliath. They find out their friend King David is dead. They find themselves in none other than Elisha’s time as a prophet. Elijah and Elisha are some of my favorite prophets in the bible. These two powerhouses do some of the most unique miracles. This is the first time I have read a story during Elisha’s ministry, so it was a fun read to see what would happen.

This was a great story, watching the children figure out what they needed to do to get back home and learning things along the way. This was a great story that I look forward to sharing with my children.

Review:

Find Me in the Story is book 1 in the second season of Jonathon Island, and my heart could not be happier to return to Jonathan Island. We get to meet new characters while also checking in on other beloved characters. This small island town is the perfect mix of cozy and sweet, with underlying problems that get solved in the perfect Hallmark-esque way. So, if you love Hallmark movies, you are in for a treat. Grab your favorite blanket, a cozy beverage, and let’s dive in. This series will have you turning the screens off for this fun town.

Oliver Sullivan is co-owner of the island bookstore. He is having a hard go at it. Since losing his wife, things just aren’t the same. His sister, Dani, has asked Oliver to take over the book festival.

Eliza is trying to figure out what is next for her life. She lost her brother in a tragic accident and has returned to the island to help her parents move from her childhood home into a smaller cottage. When Eliza sees the help-wanted sign in the bookstore, she demands the job. Which is the perfect fit for Eliza. Oliver isn’t quite sure. Eliza goes straight to work and helps build an online/social media presence for the bookstore to help boost business. Eliza helps Oliver with the festival and brings it to life in a whole new way.

This forced proximity, second-chance-at-love romance was perfect and sweet.

Lisa Jordan intertwines faith throughout the story, bringing hope to the characters.

Giveaway and Review: Anna of Bethsaida by Susanne Blumer

Anna of Bethsaida JustRead Blog Tour

Welcome to the Blog Tour for Anna of Bethsaida by Susanne Blumer, hosted by JustRead Publicity Tours!

About the Book

Anna of Bethsaida

Title: Anna of Bethsaida
Series:
The Arimathea Chronicles #2
Author:
Susanne Blumer
Publisher:
Sutton Avenue Press
Release Date:
March 16, 2026
Genre:
Biblical Fiction

Anna believed choosing Andrew meant gaining a home. Instead, she finds herself on the dusty roads of Galilee, under the watchful eyes of hostile Pharisees, walking ever closer to miracles that both heal and unsettle.

As a healer traveling with Jesus's ministry alongside Andrew, Anna takes her place among the women who follow, forming bonds that offer strength as the journey grows harder. While crowds press close to hear the Teacher's words, a different kind of attention gathers. In Jerusalem, her father Joseph of Arimathea, walks an impossible line within the Sanhedrin, and with each miracle Jesus performs, the net draws tighter around them all.

The cost of discipleship, Anna discovers, is not counted in miles walked or comforts surrendered. It is measured in the space between what she hoped following Jesus would be and what it actually demands.

Some journeys test what you believe.
Some reshape who you become.
Anna's does both.

This is Book 2 of The Arimathea Chronicles. Begin Anna's journey from the beginning with Book 1, Anna of Arimathea, where a scarred, isolated young woman discovers healing, first love, and purpose in the footsteps of Jesus.

Anna of Bethsaida is perfect for readers who love:

  • Deeply researched biblical fiction with authentic period detail
  • The untold stories of women in the early church - Mary Magdalene, Joanna, and the community that sustained Jesus's ministry
  • Love stories tested by faith and dangerous callings
  • Political intrigue woven through spiritual transformation
  • Character-driven narratives where personal loss intersects with world-changing events

Review

Anna of Bethsaida is the second book in The Arimathea Chronicles. This biblical fiction helped bring the bible to life in a new way. I look forward to reading book three, as this one left us slightly on a cliffhanger. Though because we have the bible, I do know parts of what will happen, but I am excited to see how Susanne Blumer will portray it.

In book one, we leave off at Anna and Andrew’s wedding, and book two picks up right where we left them. Anna and Andrew are trying to figure out life as newlyweds while also jumping back into serving alongside Jesus. The call is not easy. Days can be really hard, short on food, long travel days, and as the Sanhedrin feel the slip of their power, they are out to destroy Jesus and all of his followers. Anna and Andrew find out they are pregnant.

It deals with some of the different emotions that might have occurred among the disciples. Andrew feels jealous of Simon Peter. Which made me think how the disciples felt about the inner circle when Jesus took Simon Peter, James, and John. There was also some tension towards Judas. This story definitely provoked some more thoughts. It was interesting seeing Jesus' ministry from a different point of view.

I am not one to post trigger/content warnings, but this one does deal with premature stillbirth and the grief following. The scene will definitely evoke emotions.

Renegade By Susan May Warren

About the Book

Title:Renegade
Author:
Susan May Warren
Publisher:
Sunrise Publishing
Release Date:
March 17, 2026
Genre:
Romantic Suspense Fiction

Review:

Christian romantic suspense readers, this series is for you. I could not put Renegade down. Susan May Warren and Lisa Phillips have hit it out of the park with this multi-author series, with some overlapping characters from Chasing Fire: Alaska.

Everyone in Renegade believes Rowan “Hammer” to be dead. When he shows up in town, his old flame Sierra almost falls over in shock. But that isn’t the only shocking thing.

Someone is trying to scare off the Ranchers. Through stolen cattle and now contaminated water, where will these people draw the line? And will it stop before more people mysteriously turn up dead? Rowan jumps right into action. Everything his military training has taught him comes in clutch. Jumping to Sierra’s help is what he was meant to do. Rebuilding a relationship that was destroyed, and also building a relationship with her son, is going to be harder than Rowan imagined.

This book is all the best elements: suspense, military, wild firefighter, cowboy, secret child, second chance at romance, faith, and so much more.     This second-chance romance is perfect with kisses only.

Susan May Warren intertwines faith elements.

Claire Holloway is Winging It by: Angela Ruth Strong

About the Book

Title: Claire Holloway Is Winging It
Author:
Angela Ruth Strong
Publisher:
Kregel Publishing
Release Date:
March 17, 2026
Genre:
Contemporary Romance Fiction

Review:

If you love a great rom-com, then Claire Holloway Is Winging It is for you. From the very beginning, Angela Ruth Strong hooked me in, and I could not put this book down.

Claire, a former ballerina, has to give up her dancing career due to trigger foot. She has decided to become a flight attendant. When she is stationed out of Seattle, she moves there. At the airport, she runs into First Officer Nathan. Nathan helps Claire navigate to her crash pad, a place where other flight attendants are housed. But with the nature of the job, they aren’t always there at the same time. When Claire finds herself on the same flight crew as Nathan, they soon find themselves becoming friends, exchanging inside jokes and witty banter.

Nathan has been burned before, by his ex-fiancรฉe, who he thought was cheating on him and broke things off. So, Nathan is a little guarded, but Claire catches his eye. When he learns that she has a boyfriend, Nathan does not pursue Claire. He wants what is best for Claire, and if that is her relationship with Wyatt, then Nathan wants to support Claire. Nathan is working his way up to being a pilot. He has had some delays in his career. But he has been able to meet some really great people in the process.

Though this somewhat reads like a love triangle, it was done in the purest of ways. Claire and Nathan are friends. Claire is in a relationship with Wyatt and not pursuing Nathan, but rather trying to set him up with her roommate. Nathan has feelings for Claire, but since she is in a relationship, he distances himself from her and wants what is best for Claire. In the purest of love and friendship, putting the other person above your own desires and wanting what is best for the other person, even at the loss to yourself.  Wyatt, on the other hand, is not the purest. He is trying to manipulate Claire into moving in with him, even though he makes comments that he isn’t really interested in marriage right away. I love that Claire sticks to her faith and her convictions and does not cave to Wyatt. I appreciate that in this love triangle, there was no cheating involved.

Angela Ruth Strong did a great job of intertwining faith throughout the story.
