Beyond Her Calling by Kellyn Roth

Beyond Her Calling is the fourth book in The Chronicles of Alice and Ivy series by Kellyn Roth, and each book has sucked me into the story. At the beginning, I didn’t know how I would feel about each story focusing on a different sister. The farther I get into the series, the more I enjoy it. This story is back on Ivy, and so much has happened since the last installment of Ivy’s story. She does appear in the previous story, but we get to see her thoughts in this story.

Ivy is such a unique character. In a time in history when mental health was quite the mystery. This story is such a fun look into how things might have been, but from the perspective of Ivy. She has grown so much and is learning to work through things that she struggled with as a young girl.

In this book, Ivy returns to the McCale House to visit. Jordy is returning to Scotland, and Violet is going to her Aunt Daphne’s house, so Ivy joins them on the journey. While there, she is helping Jordy get his doctor practice started in the town. While in town, Ivy becomes friends with Ena, and she becomes like a second/third mother to her. As Ivy is helping Jordy, they both realize they have feelings for each other. Watching it all unfold was so enjoyable. I loved that Ivy finally found love.

I had the pleasure of listening to the audio version of this book, read by Alexandra Ralph. She did a great job bringing this story to life. I appreciate that this series is read by the same narrator. If there had been a change in narrator, it would have changed things a little bit.

Kellyn Roth does a great job of intertwining faith throughout. I loved the redemption and reminder that God can forgive us of our sins.

The romance was sweet with kisses only.

*I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book, which I received from the author.  A positive review was not required. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.
