Shadowed Witness by Angela Carlisle

Shadowed Witness is the first book I have read written by Angela Carlisle, and I am excited to read more. This was an intense romantic mystery thriller/suspense, and it kept me on the edge of my seat. It was very well written, and the twist surprised me.

The character development was good. Allye is struggling to figure out what is going on with her health. With all these mysterious symptoms and her aunt’s MS diagnosis, could that be her mysterious illness? In the middle of this, Allye also finds herself in the middle of a murder. Eric is on the case and trying to help Allye figure out what is happening. He is also trying to help out the two boys who are left orphaned after their mother was found murdered. Eric is trying to eradicate the drug problem in the town. Watching Eric struggle through the case and his past is great, watching his change.

The small-town setting was perfect for this story. The storyline kept me on my toes. I enjoyed all the layers of this story. We have Allye trying to figure out what is going on with her secret illness, her being gaslit, and if she even witnessed a murder. Being on the case with Eric and Allye trying to solve the case was a fun adventure to go on. The main drug dealer was a surprise, and figuring out the other people's involvement was heartbreaking. Could not ask for a better suspense thriller story.

This friends-to-more romance was the perfect kisses-only, no spice book.

Angela Carlisle does a great job of intertwining faith throughout the book. Reminding the reader to put their trust in God and lean into Him in the hard parts.

*I received a complimentary copy from the author and voluntarily chose to review it. All opinions are my own.
