Review
The Targeted by Cara Putman has blown me away. I could not put this book down. There are so many layers to this story that slowly get pulled back. Chloe was abused by her gymnastic coach, and when he shows up back in town helping at the gym, she decides to take action, so no one else is hurt. Chole brings her case to the school’s legal clinic to get some help. Dare is the one who gets handed her case and starts to help put together the case. Though everything he does seems to be getting pushback from the clinic director. Dare and Chloe work together to gather some more details to help their case. But as they dig, they find there is more to this case than it seems.
With such a heavy topic and something that happens in real life, this story was great to dive into from both the perspective of the victim and the plaintiff. The character development was great. Chloe is working through trauma and her mother’s dementia while trying to find her path in life. Dare is working through school to become a lawyer, but being an older student, things are a little different.
*I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book, which I received from the author. A positive review was not required. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.
