Review

Verse by Verse: Volume 1 is a daily devotional that takes it one verse at a time. This book is significantly larger than I expected it to be. This devotional is broken up into sections, by chapter, and then each day focuses on one verse a day, and after every two verses, it contains a prompt to reflect and journal/meditate on the two verses. At the end of each chapter, there are key takeaways for the whole chapter.

I love the in-depth research that went into each verse and the reflections. With the use and mention of other scriptures, which gives us a great overarching of the bible, tying it all in together.

I love a great devotional. I love the idea behind this devotional series. I think it would be great to take a deep dive into a book of the bible, maybe as a bible study, either on your own or with a group. But as a whole, I think this series, when it is completed, would make me feel inundated and would be a very daunting task to try to read it in its entirety. The pacing is a little on the slow side. It would take just over 85 years to read the bible at only one verse a day. It gives the reader lots of time to marinate in the word of God, but if this were your only source of bible reading, it might leave you wanting. As a tool in addition to your daily bible reading, this would be a great option. It is evident that the amount of research that was put into this devotional, and I greatly appreciate that. The content is great.
