A storm was coming.

And for Brooke Sumner, the storm on the horizon spelled nuisance, not trouble.

Scratch that. It spelled out both descriptive words in thirteen annoying letters: Storm Whitlock. Six feet four inches of muscle, a too-confident smile, and a head full of wavy brown hair she’d like to shave off him. Because how on earth was it fair for a man to be that distractingly handsome and bothersome all in one breath?

She wasn’t quite sure exactly at what point Storm Whitlock had gone from being an annoying brother type to her first crush, but she clearly remembered the day he’d crushed her under that size 13 shoe of his in a devastating act of betrayal. Chosen that criminal, Annika Weitz, over her. All their years of friendship couldn’t compete with his greed, and she’d never seen his disloyalty coming.

Storm’s ability to forget everything they’d built between them stung so sharply that she’d cashed in her shares of their business and walked away last year. He’d retained control of the pawnshop they’d worked their tails off to open together, and he’d become her competition.
