A police officer will do anything to catch the serial killer that got away—even if it means playing a deadly game in the icy wilderness.
Sweetwood Falls, Yukon, has seen too much terror for one small town. Corporal Aurora Hunt still blames herself for not catching the Shadow Box Killer before five women lost their lives. The killings stopped two years ago, and her colleagues believe the murderer is dead. But Aurora isn’t convinced.
A chilling discovery on a winter’s morning confirms her fears. The crime scene is all too familiar—a woman’s mutilated body, and beneath it, a box containing a gruesome souvenir. But this time, there’s a special message, daring Aurora to play a game that will lead her into the wilderness to try and save the next victim.
Canadian Watcher Squad survivalist Kordell Greene is part of the past that Aurora has tried to put behind her. He’s also the only person equipped to guide her through this deadly terrain. But somehow, the killer knows all their secrets. Solving cryptic clues as they battle the elements, Aurora and Kordell must confront dark truths they’ve withheld, even from each other. And always, the Shadow Box Killer is one step ahead, drawing them deeper into a twisted game where the slightest mistake may be their last.

Review
Coordinates of Death is the second book in the Arctic Protectors series written by Darlene L. Turner. I did not read the first book, but I was able to enjoy it without missing anything. I do plan on going back and reading the first book in the series. This is the second book that I have read written by Darlene L. Turner, and I look forward to reading more. As a Canadian, it’s always a pleasure to read books written by other Canadians.
When Aurora Hunt arrives at the crime scene, all things point to the Shadow Box serial killer being back. It’s been two years, and Aurora has blamed herself. When the Shadow Box calls her out and dares her to find the next victim before they are dead, Aurora calls up her old friend, Kordell Greene, who is now part of the Canadian Watcher Squad. As a survivalist, Kordell is the perfect person to help Aurora stop this serial killer. I loved following the pair along as they uncovered clues and tried to stop the Shadow Box killer. This story sucked me in, and I could not put it down.
The character development was great. Aurora went through some traumatic situations: feeling responsible for the kidnapping and death of her baby sister, her mother’s depression, and also being raped, resulting in pregnancy and ultimately a miscarriage. Kordell was in foster care, and when he met Aurora, he was in a really bad placement. He himself was drugged and forced to watch the rape of Aurora. As a teen, the only thing Kordell felt he could do was run. Now, having to face his secrets and tell Aurora is a hard thing.
Darlene L. Turner did a great job of intertwining faith throughout the story. Showing how God could take the bad and turn it into good.
This second chance romance was perfect.
