Doctor Dolittle 1967

This movie is totally different from the modern version of Dr. Dolittle. It reminds me more of Pippi Longstocking. It is a long movie, and very unique. Doctor Dolittle's parrot teaches him how to talk to different animals. Doctor Dolittle get's put in prison due to his ability to talk to animals. Even when he demonstrates his ability and his translation is completely right. Then his friends help him escape prison and he is off to sea with his friends. it is a good movie.

Tilly by Frank E. Peretti

Tilly is a short novel. It first was written as a radio drama. This is a good short story that is pro life.
Kathy aborted her baby and in a dream she meets her daughter. The whole story is based on Kathy dealing with what she had done. It is good. I would encourage you to read this book. It gives a different twist on things, but is very good, and gets you thinking about things.

Edward Scissorhands

I really enjoyed this movie, I see why this is one of my cousin's favorite movie. How sad to be Edward Scissorhands. Nobody understands him. He isn't normal. He's special, but everyone is trying to use him. He is forced out of his home, and into this land with strange people. It's so weird. All the ladies want to use him for his scissors. Edward is in love with Kim, his house sister, but Kim's boyfriend just uses him and turns the town against him. In the end Edward kills him, and in turn he exiles Edward. This is a great movie. I would buy it.

Desperately Seeking Susan

Desperately Seeking Susan is funny. Roberta is in the middle of meeting Susan so she can give Susan her key. Before they meet a man is stocking Roberta because he thinks that she is Susan. Well she falls and hits her head and forgets who she is. At that moment Susan's boyfriends, friend shows up and tells Roberta that she is Susan and takes her home. because of this whole mix up, lots of crazy things go down. This is a funny movie, but I don't think I would personally buy this movie. I might watch it again, but it's definitely on my top 100 favorite movie list.

Ice Castle

Watch it!!!! watch it!!! watch it!!!
This was an amazing movie. It is a figure skating movie. It does have the boy that she falls in love with. And it does have a twist. but the twist is bigger and better than ever. Lexie loves to skate. She has been skating forever. One day when she decides to compete she is discovered by her coach, Aiden. He offers to train her. So Lexie is on her way to Boston to train. She makes regionals. As she is on her way to the top she falls and hits her head really hear, causing her to go blind. She loses all hope. Her ex-boyfriend comes back and tries to help her over come this and help her do what she loves best. As Nick is helping her 'see' the ice rink they fall back in love. Lexie is able to skate because she has been doing it so long it's just second nature. No one in the media world know she is blind, so she goes on to compete, I think at world's but i could be wrong. She does an amazing job. It isn't until she is trying to get back to the exit that the crowd realize she has lost her sight.
This is a very good movie. but maybe I'm not hard enough on movies. I read one review and they thought it was horrible. Apparently the 1970s version is better. I guess I will just have to watch it and see.

Pretty Little Liars by Sarah Shepard

This was a pretty good book. It is a teen book, but a really great read. The four old friends are reunited after the disappearance of their friend Ali. Ali was the one who originally united the five-some, which is now a four-some. There is a new A in town who seems to be out to get the four girls. She or maybe he, keeps sending them messages-text/email/notes- that contain things that only Ai would know. But by the end of the book the police find Ali's dead body. So if it's not Ali, who is it? We don't find out in this book, but it is defiantly addicting. I would recommend this book.

Plainsong

Plainsong is a great movie. yeah I seem to say that about every movie. This movie is similar to Second Hand Lion. Victoria is pregnant and kicked out of her home. These two old men, brothers, take in Victoria. They are rich and buy her everything for the baby. They are a little bit awkward at first because they aren't use to being around people, but they soon grow to love this teenager. Then Victoria runs away with her baby's father. after being with him for a bit, she discovers that that is not the life that her baby needs so she returns to the two old men. As well, the two old men help out Tom who's wife just left him with two young sons. The boys don't want to be left at home one night and ride their horse to the old men's house. The men constantly find themselves taking in the misfits of the Colorado community.
I like this movie a lot because Megan Follows plays in it and because it's set in Colorado, the location of my new home. it's pretty cool. I would recommend this movie.

Sarah's Choice

What a great movie. Sarah is stuck with this choice of whether she should abort the baby and get the new promotion but go against all of her moral dilemmas, or keep the baby and risk ruining her life. Rebecca St. James does an amazing job in this movie. I would defiantly recommend this movie. Sarah is given three different visions which helps her decide to keep the baby. That and the support of her Christian family.

His Girl Friday

This movie is very funny. Walter (the newspaper editor)  uses every trick he has to try and stop his ex wife, Hildy, from remarrying and leaving the newspaper industry. He tricks her into writing this amazing piece, and as planed Hildy gets hooked.
I would recommend watching this movie. It is very comical and fun to watch. It is eventful and a good classic movie.

Bonnie and Clyde

1934 Bonnie Parker
You've read the story of Jesse James--
Of how he lived and died;
If you're still in need
Of something to read
Here's the story of Bonnie and Clyde.

Now Bonnie and Clyde are the Barrow gang.
I'm sure you all have read
How they rob and steal
And those who squeal
Are usually found dying or dead.

There's lots of untruths to these write-ups;
They're not so ruthless as that;
Their nature is raw;
They hate the law--
The stool pigeons, spotters, and rats.

They call them cold-blooded killers;
They say they are heartless and mean;
But I say this with pride,
That I once knew Clyde
When he was honest and upright and clean
.
But the laws fooled around,
Kept taking him down
And locking him up in a cell,
Till he said to me,
"I'll never be free,
So I'll meet a few of them in hell."

The road was so dimly lighted;
There were no highway signs to guide;
But they made up their minds
If all roads were blind,
They wouldn't give up till they died.

The road gets dimmer and dimmer;
Sometimes you can hardly see;
But it's fight, man to man,
And do all you can,
For they know they can never be free.

From heart-break some people have suffered;
From weariness some people have died;
But take it all in all,
Our troubles are small
Till we get like Bonnie and Clyde.

If a policeman is killed in Dallas,
And they have no clue or guide;
If they can't find a fiend,
They just wipe their slate clean
And hang it on Bonnie and Clyde.

There's two crimes committed in America
Not accredited to the Barrow mob;
They had no hand
In the kidnap demand,
Nor the Kansas City Depot job.

A newsboy once said to his buddy:
"I wish old Clyde would get jumped;
In these awful hard times
We'd make a few dimes
If five or six cops would get bumped."

The police haven't got the report yet,
But Clyde called me up today;
He said, "Don't start any fights--
We aren't working nights--
We're joining the NRA."

From Irving to West Dallas viaduct
Is known as the Great Divide,
Where the women are kin,
And the men are men,
And they won't "stool" on Bonnie and Clyde.

If they try to act like citizens
And rent them a nice little flat,
About the third night
They're invited to fight
By a sub-gun's rat-tat-tat.

They don't think they're too smart or desperate,
They know that the law always wins;
They've been shot at before,
But they do not ignore
That death is the wages of sin
.
Some day they'll go down together;
They'll bury them side by side;
To few it'll be grief--
To the law a relief--
But it's death for Bonnie and Clyde.

This poem was written by the real Bonnie Parker. The movie is interesting and seems to capture the true history of Bonnie and Clyde. There is a lot of shooting, and at the end the cops really do a number on them. I don't know how I feel about this movie, but it is very interesting.
It's sad when Bonnie meets up with her mom, and she wants to come home and her mom just tells her to keep on running. All in all the life of crime is not much of a life because you can never stay in one place. You can never see your friends. You only have the road and money. And money can't buy you everything.

Purge by Sarah Littman

Purge by Sarah Littman.

This book was a hard read, but also a great read.
Janie Ryman has gone through a lot lately. Her life as she knows it has been flipped upside down. The book is written half as journal entries from Janie and the other half of the events that take place while Janie is in rehab at Golden Slopes. Many people appear to be worse than her. Yet all of them have a common bond. They all have an issue with food, and most of them have parents that have an issue with food as well.
Janie is addicted to bingeing. She loves her food, but it makes her feel fat and ugly so she pukes. she eats to feel empty. She has all these things from the world pilling on her shoulders. She has the pressure of feeling perfect from her parents, the pressure of wanting the perfect(in her mind) guy from herself, and no one seems to understand her, or so Janie thinks. What Janie really needs is God, unfortunately she doesn't find him. But Janie does come to terms with her issues with food and talks to her parents about what happened and how she feels. She learns that she has to communicate her feelings and let others in. (I some times struggle with this)
I really enjoyed this book. It is aimed more at preteens/teens. I enjoyed it because I could relate. I would recommend this book to others.

It Happened one Night

Though Ellie does not think that he loves her, so she is prepared to marry King Westley. After she is walked down the elise, and is about to say I do, she runs away and elopes with Peter.

Unshaken by: Francine Rivers

Ruth. Ruth is only four chapters in the Bible. It doesn't go into to much detail about Ruth and the story behind her. What we do know is that Ruth was extremely loyal to Naomi and determined to stay with her no matter what.

Ruth 1:16-17 says:
But Ruth said:
      “ Entreat me not to leave you,
      Or to turn back from following after you;
      For wherever you go, I will go;
      And wherever you lodge, I will lodge;
      Your people shall be my people,
      And your God, my God.
          Where you die, I will die,
      And there will I be buried.
      The LORD do so to me, and more also,
      If anything but death parts you and me.”

Francine Rivers does an amazing job at taking us back through Ruth's shoes. She writes Ruth's untold story. When the cover is open we are back in the bible times. there has been a great famine throughout Judah and Naomi's family leaves to find food. We are then introduced to the Moabitess, Ruth who will not leave her mother-in-law because of her great faith in God. This is an awesome woman to have in Jesus lineage. A woman so devoted to her mother-in-law that she forsakes her people, her parents, her parents god, and her land. Just to follow Naomi. God truly blesses this woman. I enjoyed reading this novel so much. It was truly a fantastic read. I look forward to finishing the rest of the books in this series.

Mercy by Jodi Picoult

This book was well written. I found it a little bit hard to get into, but once I was half way though the book I just wanted to be done. There was a lot of different things going on in this book. There's the hand written letters, who I'm still not sure who wrote the letters/who they were written to. I think the letters were written by Cam and written to Mia. Then there was the Cam/Allie relationship. There was the Jamie/Maggie relationship. Then there was the Cam/Mia relationship. Then there was the Trial and everything else.

Was what Jamie did an act of Mercy or an act of selfishness? There are so many questions that this story brings out and so on. This novel really got me thinking if I was the jury, how would I vote on the verdict? Would I say murder was okay because it was an act of mercy. I feel like this case would really move me, but in the end I would have to say that Jamie was guilty... guilty of murder. but maybe he didn't entirely see that it was wrong.

Maggie really used her pull to get Jamie to kill her. Your being selfish by not killing me? I mean what is that. that is just mean.

All in all the book was well written and the situations well described. I would recommend this book.

Island Dreamer by: Robin Jones Gunn

Island Dreamer by: Robin Jones Gunn

good book. It takes place in Hawaii. Christy is extremely jealous of her friend Paula who is trying to steal Todd away from Christy. Both Paula and Christy grow a lot in this book. Paula in her spiritual life and Christy in her emotional life. It is good. I would highly recommend this book. enjoy.

Surprise Endings By Robin Jones Gunn

#4 Surprise Endings by Robin Jones Gunn

This short youth novel is part of a series that is my absolute favourite. It changed my life, and helped me with making decisions growing up. I cannot count the number if times I have read these books. I would defiantly recommend this book.

Christy sets a great example when she is picked for cheerleading and gives her spot to Teri. But the book doesn't start out that way. It starts out with Christy being all paranoid because Todd is going to prom with another girl. Christy learns a lot and really grows during this book as well as the other books.
You will not be disappointed with this book.

Yours Forever by Robin Jones Gunn

This series is a little bit juvenile for my age group. This series is directed towards ages 12-16. but these books are my favourite and really inspired me growing up so i shall do a book review on these books as I am reading them as I am travelling. These books are very short.

#3 Yours Forever by Robin Jones Gunn
Robin Jones Gunn does an amazing job portraying the thoughts and feelings of a teenage girl. Never really sure how the boys are feeling. Feeling like your heart is playing tricks on you. One moment you're a happy and totally in love, the next wanting to wring his neck. Sometimes playing love games isn't the way to win a guy. The real way is to just be yourself. Christy finds that out after she has already made a mess of things, but it all works out in the end.

When Christy is feeling cold heart she remembers a song that she heard:
"Touch this heart, so full of pain,
Heal it with Your love.
Make it soft and warm again,
Melt me with Your love.
I don't want to push You away;
Come back in,
Come to stay.
Make me tender, just like You,
Melt me with Your love."
(Gunn 76)
Some times we all feel cold hearted and need our hears melted to show true love. The love that 1 Corinthians 13 speaks of. Some times it is so hard to show everyone love. but that is what the Lord requires of us.

"No matter what happens, no matter what You've got planned for me, no matter how things end up for Todd and me, I want You to know that I am Yours. I'm Yours, God. Yours forever." (Gunn 141)
This is a beautiful prayer. God it doesn't matter what happens, all that matters is that you are in control, and you are the center of my life. Take me in your hands, lead me and I will follow.

Unveiled by Francine Rivers

Unveiled by Francine Rivers

WOW! what a story. Francine Rivers did an amazing job reinventing the story of Tamar. Writing the story between the lines. As I read this story I became Tamar; tortured and hurting as my first husband beat me and my second husband disgraced me. As my father-in-law abandoned me, and mother-in-law disgraced me. Francine Rivers did an excellent job of painting a picture of the pain that was brought to Tamar, and the courage that she had to overcome these trials.

Some quotes that stood out to me:

"And now that his sins had caught up with him, he had a choice: Go on sinning or repent." (Rivers 121)
Near the end of the novel, when Judah realizes that the woman he slept with was his daughter-in-law. We as Christians have the same choice. When we come to Christ we can either accept Christ and become that new creation, turning away from sin (repent= renewing of the mind and turning away from the old mind set of sin. accept Jesus is Lord, turn from our former life of sin, and sin no more) or we can deny Christ and keep living in sin. But if you don't repent, and deny Christ I guess I won't be seeing you in heaven. so I hope that you repent and turn to Christ and die to self daily and pick up your cross. :)

"Pride broken, heart humbled, he prayed as he'd never prayed before, pleading for someone other than himself." (Rivers 123)
This quote is pretty great. This is how we should come before God; completely humbled, and praying to God. Not just pleading for our own desires, but for others.

I would recommend this book. Hope you enjoy. Let me know what you think. And also check out the original story... Genesis 38

Pippi and the South Seas

"you have to practice to do anything well" Pippi

Pippi LongStocking is always fun. She goes on some pretty awesome adventures. This is a great movie for all ages. Pippi sales the south seas with the neighbor kids to rescue her father. It's so funny how the pirates are so shocked at Pippi's strength. I can see why Rory and Lorelai enjoy Pippi so much. It kind of relates to how they act in different ways.
