Unveiled by Francine Rivers
Unveiled by Francine Rivers
WOW! what a story. Francine Rivers did an amazing job reinventing the story of Tamar. Writing the story between the lines. As I read this story I became Tamar; tortured and hurting as my first husband beat me and my second husband disgraced me. As my father-in-law abandoned me, and mother-in-law disgraced me. Francine Rivers did an excellent job of painting a picture of the pain that was brought to Tamar, and the courage that she had to overcome these trials.
Some quotes that stood out to me:
"And now that his sins had caught up with him, he had a choice: Go on sinning or repent." (Rivers 121)
Near the end of the novel, when Judah realizes that the woman he slept with was his daughter-in-law. We as Christians have the same choice. When we come to Christ we can either accept Christ and become that new creation, turning away from sin (repent= renewing of the mind and turning away from the old mind set of sin. accept Jesus is Lord, turn from our former life of sin, and sin no more) or we can deny Christ and keep living in sin. But if you don't repent, and deny Christ I guess I won't be seeing you in heaven. so I hope that you repent and turn to Christ and die to self daily and pick up your cross. :)
"Pride broken, heart humbled, he prayed as he'd never prayed before, pleading for someone other than himself." (Rivers 123)
This quote is pretty great. This is how we should come before God; completely humbled, and praying to God. Not just pleading for our own desires, but for others.
I would recommend this book. Hope you enjoy. Let me know what you think. And also check out the original story... Genesis 38
