Review

If you like Regency stories, you have found the story for you. The Light of Stars by Jenelle Hovde is not just a story; it is a work of art. This story took me on a journey through the Regency era. I was confronted with the realities of things that happened during this time period. This was a piece of history that I knew a little bit about, and it was brought to this story that helped me see things from a different perspective.

This story intertwines so many historical aspects and people. I loved getting to interact with people like missionary William Carey, abolitionist activist William Wilberforce, scientist siblings William and Carolina Herschel, and the East India Company.

Kitty and her brother Edward are kidnapped by their grandfather as young children in India and brought back to England to be raised in ‘proper society.’ When Kitty comes of age, she is told she will marry Sebastian Sinclair, whose grandfather oversees the East India Company.

Sebastian has been helping William Carey with some translation work. William Wilberforce approaches Sebastian with the allegations of Opium being transported through the East India Company. Sebastian is in London to try to figure things out, while also marrying Kitty. Kitty at first resisted the idea of marrying Sebastian because of the arrangement. So they all go to London for the season, and things begin to shift between Kitty and Sebastian.

This marriage of convenience romance is perfect and sweet with kisses only.

Jenelle Hovde did a fantastic job of intertwining faith throughout this story.
