𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰: If you love Christian romantic suspense and the outdoors, you do not want to miss this series. In Too Deep is the second book in the Summer Rangers series by Susan May Warren and Taris Faris. I could not put this story down.
After the gold was found in the Grand Canyon in the last book, the park has become chaotic, with everyone trying to find one of the two remaining treasures. The story starts with Noah and Dr. Meg on a rescue after a cave collapses. This is not a clean-cut rescue. When Meg is trying to stabilize the girl, the internal trauma is too much, and the girl dies. This chaos has a domino effect.
Dr. Meg is dealing with her past trauma and how the onset of these medical rescues is causing her panic attacks to be more frequent. Not knowing if she can continue as a doctor or if she should work in a lab. Noah is grieving the loss of his wife and daughter with the guilt of feeling like it’s his fault. He must learn to let go of control and lean into God. Together, they are working through their past traumas.
The only way to shut down this treasure hunt for the Roosevelt gold is for the park rangers to find it. When they think they saw the chest in the cave that they did the rescue in, the rangers go back to check it out. With the aftershocks and the bad weather, it is a risky task. When another call comes in that a group is stuck in that same cave, they return to rescue the group, but it turns into a trap.
The romance was the perfect slow burn with kisses only.
Susan May Warren and Tari Faris did a great job intertwining faith elements throughout the story.
